Overview
The Visit Lab feature enables direct access to on-demand environments, allowing you to provide assistance without external connectivity tools. This removes coordination hurdles and provides instant visibility into the learner's lab.
Who Can Access This Feature?
This feature is available to the following user roles:
Admins
Training Managers
Training Coordinators
Note: The Trainer role does not have permission to use the Visit Lab feature as they cannot access the on-demand area in the admin console.
How to Access the Lab
Navigate to the On-Demand Course page.
Locate the specific enrollment you wish to access.
Open the Enrollment Context Menu (three dots icon).
Click the Visit Lab button.
The environment will open in a new browser tab. Click Enter the Lab to enter.
How it Works
The experience differs slightly depending on whether the learner is currently working in the lab or if the lab is paused.
Scenario A: Visiting while the Learner is Active
If the learner is currently online and the lab is running:
Instant Access: You do not need to wait for the lab to load.
Collaboration: You can collaborate directly within the lab. You also have access to audio, video, and chat tools to communicate with the learner.
Learner Notification: The learner receives a message alerting them to your visit. They can choose to join the collaborative session or wait for your visit to end.
Timer & Costs:
The learner's on-demand timer continues counting during your visit.
There are no additional costs associated with this visit.
Scenario B: Visiting while the Learner is Inactive
If the learner is offline and the lab is paused:
Wait Time: You must wait for the lab to unpause/resume after entering the environment.
Access Level: You have full access to the lab with write privileges.
Timer & Costs:
The learner's on-demand timer remains paused during your visit (their time allowance is not consumed).
Cloud resource costs apply for the duration of your visit.
Disconnecting from the Lab
When you have finished your troubleshooting or assistance session:
Click the red Disconnect button located at the top of the page.
What happens next?
If the learner was active: They can simply continue working in the lab without interruption.
If the learner was inactive: The lab will initiate the standard pausing procedure. Once paused, it will be ready for the learner to connect whenever they return.
Additional notes
Self-Visits: You cannot use this feature to visit your own lab.
Enrollment Status: You can only visit a lab after the learner has started it at least once. (You may need to refresh the browser to view the current status)
State Restrictions: You cannot connect to a lab while it is in the middle of provisioning or pausing. You must wait for these processes to complete.
